The definition of delegation is the assignment of authority to another person to carry out specific activities. It is the process of distributing and entrusting work to another person, and is one of the core concepts of management and leadership.<\/p>\n

That being said, we\u2019ve all heard the phrase \u201cI\u2019ll just do it myself because it\u2019s so much faster\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

What does this mean?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This, in fact, means that delegating saves time in the LONG TERM, not necessarily the SHORT TERM. To delegate effectively means YOU have to invest the time to:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Think through exactly what you want.<\/li>\n
  2. Figure out if there is a specific way in which you want it done.<\/li>\n
  3. Communicate your plan clearly and specifically \u2014 for best results, in writing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
